POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cathodic Protection (CP) Technician / Close Interval Survey (CIS) Lead plays a critical role in executing high-quality corrosion control surveys on oil and gas pipelines. This position is field-based and requires full-time travel to various project sites, often in remote areas. The CIS Lead is responsible for operating specialized survey equipment, ensuring data accuracy, maintaining safety compliance, and leading crew-level field activities. This role is ideal for individuals who are physically capable, detail-oriented, and experienced in cathodic protection survey techniques
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and execute Close Interval Surveys (CIS) on buried pipelines using Mesa 3 tablets and PCS Field Data Collector software
Walk 4–6 miles daily in varied terrain and weather to perform surveys accurately and efficiently
Ensure precise data collection, verification, and documentation of pipe-to-soil potentials and other cathodic protection measurements
Travel full-time to assigned field locations to perform surveys and support pipeline integrity projects
Identify, report, and document any anomalies or discrepancies encountered during the survey process
Adhere strictly to safety standards, client requirements, and applicable industry guidelines such as NACE SP0169 and DOT regulations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Technical training or certification in cathodic protection (e.g., NACE CP1) is preferred
Previous field experience conducting Close Interval Surveys (CIS) and other CP assessments
Familiarity with Mesa 3 tablets and PCS Field Data Collector software preferred
Experience in oil and gas pipeline integrity, CP system inspection, or corrosion control services strongly preferred
Ability to walk 4–6 miles per day under various environmental conditions
Ability to travel full-time and work in remote field environments for extended periods
Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to project protocols
Must be able to travel to various job sites
Required to work weekends and holidays
Required to work hours other than 8 to 5
