Description
Founded in 1905 and serving nearly 1,000 day and boarding students from 28 states and 19 countries, McCallie is one of the country's premier independent schools and a national leader in educating boys in grades 6-12. As stated in our newly adopted strategic plan, McCallie takes an expansive view of education, seeking to form the whole boy. In his journey to manhood, McCallie comes alongside the student and supports his mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional development.
During a time of strength, momentum, and growth, McCallie seeks an experienced and dynamic teacher to join our Theater and Musicals team. Our theater team works with both McCallie students and students from the Girls Preparatory School (GPS). GPS inspires each girl to lead a life of integrity and purpose by engaging her mind, cultivating her strengths, and nurturing her self-confidence and respect for others.
This teacher's primary responsibility will be to direct and produce a mission and developmentally appropriate middle school play for McCallie students in the Spring. This individual will also be a key contributor to working across McCallie and GPS for a successful middle school musical at GPS in the Fall.
The teacher should create an enthusiasm for plays and musicals that attract a wide range and growing number of students to participate. Such plays and musicals will regularly and generally be practiced in the context of an after-school extracurricular activity when academic classes have concluded. This individual will communicate with the theater team, with both schools, and promote close coordination between the schools.
The Adjunct Middle School Theater Teacher is a 10-month, part-time position. It is considered exempt under the FLSA and it is not eligible for benefits.
