Job Title: Junior Unix/Linux Sys Admin

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Unix/Linux Systems Administrator contractor to join our IT Infrastructure and Operations team. This contractor will serve as the primary administrator for several key systems while collaborating closely with a larger team of dedicated IT professionals. We are looking for someone who is self-directed, communicates and documents clearly, and has a strong commitment to delivering operational excellence.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Administer, monitor, and maintain Linux/Unix servers, primarily RedHat-based systems.
Manage backup and recovery operations utilizing Dell EMC Integrated Data Protection Appliance (IDPA) and Avamar.
Support and maintain SAN storage systems (fiber channel and iSCSI) including capacity planning, zoning, and performance monitoring.
Operate and maintain RedHat Satellite 7 for system patch management and configuration.
Manage and troubleshoot VMware environments (vSphere/ESXi) including VM provisioning, performance tuning, and upgrades.
Administer RedHat KVM Server Hosts and related virtualization technologies.
Perform routine systems maintenance, patches, and upgrades, including occasional night or weekend work for scheduled maintenance windows.
Ensure system integrity, security, and compliance with WCPSS policies and best practices.
Create and maintain accurate, thorough system documentation.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, escalating issues when needed while maintaining ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Required Skills & Experience:
Must have 3 â 4 years of relevant experience with 1+ years of Linux.
Strong working knowledge of Dell EMC IDPA/Avamar systems.
Expertise with SAN storage environments (preferably Dell, EMC, NetApp, or similar).
Proven experience managing RedHat Satellite 7 for patch management and system configuration.
Deep experience in managing VMware Hypervisor environments, including vSphere and ESXi clusters.
Familiarity with RedHat KVM virtualization platforms.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple assignments.
Excellent documentation skills (procedures, configurations, incident reporting).
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
Must pass a standard background check.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Flexible work schedule to accommodate occasional night or weekend maintenance activities.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is 46.00 - $51.00 per hour. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
