POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Operations Director, and in cooperation with other staff, the Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, neatness, and general upkeep of the overall Camp and its facilities. This position directly impacts the collective health and comfort of our campers, staff and guests.

Housekeepers are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

This is a summer part-time seasonal opportunity. Candidates may work up to 30-35 hours per week. Some weekend hours may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains a safe environment by strict adherence to OSHA standards, Health Department protocol and YMCA related practices.

Clean and sanitize camp buildings and bathrooms using the daily cleaning checklist established by the Head Housekeeper.

Takes initiative to address cleaning needs outside of routine duties and responds on call during the standard working day to address sanitation requirements.

Handle all reasonable complaints and requests with professionalism and patience.

Assists in taking inventory of all housekeeping supplies and ensure orders are placed on a timely basis.

Maintain inventory and cleanliness of all linens, towels, pillows, and bedspreads.

Notify supervisors of damage or deficiencies identified in Camp and its facilities.

Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Six months or more of related experience preferred.

Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

Ability to report and record inventory requests.

Knowledge of cleaning methods.

Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Capability to communicate procedures in a positive and professional manner to individuals and/or large groups across all levels of employees.

Multi-lingual desired but not required.
