Leidos QTC Health Services seeks a Director of Platform Engineering to support our Chief Product Office.
The Director of Platform Engineering designs, builds, and manages the internal AI-Assisted Health platform, a system that provides developers with tools and services to build, deploy, and maintain applications efficiently. This individual will focus on creating a robust and reliable infrastructure that supports software development and delivery, ensuring developers can focus on innovation rather than infrastructure management. This role will bridge the gap between software development and IT operations, enabling developers to work more efficiently and deliver applications faster while ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
We prefer candidates willing to be based in San Dimas, CA; San Antonio, TX; Nashville, TN; or Reston, VA. Some travel may be required to other company facilities or customer sites.
Primary Responsibilities:
Designing and Building the IDP: Responsible for creating the infrastructure and tools that developers use, including CI/CD pipelines, automated infrastructure provisioning, and various APIs, CLIs, and web applications.
Improving Developer Experience: Strive to make the platform user-friendly and efficient, enabling developers to work with minimal friction and maximize their productivity.
Automating and Standardizing Workflows: Implement automated processes and standardized procedures to streamline the software development lifecycle, reducing manual tasks and errors.
Ensuring Reliability and Scalability: Build a robust and scalable infrastructure that can handle the needs of the applications over time, ensuring reliability and minimizing downtime.
Security and Compliance: Incorporate security best practices and compliance standards into the platform to ensure that applications are deployed and managed securely.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with developers, other engineering teams, and senior management to understand their needs and ensure that the platform meets their requirements.
Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor performance issues and adjust to optimize its performance and efficiency. Skills and Knowledge:
Lo/No Code: Hands-on experience delivering products using lo/no code platforms like Salesforce, Pega.
DevOps Principles: Familiar with DevOps practices and understand how to apply them to improve software development and delivery.
Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
Programming Languages: Experience with programming languages like Python, Go, or JavaScript for scripting and automation.
CI/CD Tools: Familiar with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
Containerization and Orchestration: Experience developing products using containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Networking and Security: Good understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.
Problem-Solving and Communication: Strong problem-solvers who can effectively communicate with developers and other stakeholders. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or related field with 10 years of relevant software development experience
Prior experience leading rapid application development teams
Understand the principles and core tenets of DevOps, such as automation, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure as code, and the importance of collaboration between development and operations teams
Proven track record of:
building proof-of-concepts and pilots using Salesforce
delivering products faster time-to-market, higher product quality, and better customer experience
using low-code/no-code platforms for rapid application delivery
demonstrating capabilities to customers
Demonstrated experience in anticipating customer needs and technological trends to shape new market entries and drive business growth
Hands-on experience working on projects involving digital transformation journey
Knowledge of foundational technologies such as rapid and secure software development, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML)
Strong oral and written communication skills, along with public speaking skills
Ability to influence and persuade others, as well as handle difficult negotiations requiring a well-developed sense of strategy
Foundational certifications from AWS & Salesforce
Ability to mentor, lead, and promote talent
Ability to obtain Public Trust level security clearance Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Math, Science, Engineering, or related field
Advanced professional certifications from AWS & Salesforce
