Summary
The Engineering Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for guiding a team of Engineers and Designers to ensure technical excellence and foster career growth. This role leads the development and implementation of key programs, including new hire onboarding, quality control and assurance, employee development, product innovation, and cross-training across departments and product lines. The Engineering Manager provides technical oversight, ensuring that all engineering deliverables comply with client specifications and jurisdictional requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining active PE licensure, managing the NCEES record, acquiring additional state licenses as needed, and reviewing and sealing deliverables. As a subject matter expert and technical lead, this role also contributes to continuous improvement through the development of innovative design methods and engineering solutions.
Job Description
Track and report accurate project status for management reporting
Act as point of contact with Project Managers and clients for product delivery and forecasting
Oversee timelines and deliverables across multiple projects in coordination with DirectorsAssign, manage, and track team workflows to meet departmental goals
May require less than 5% travel
Tower climbing optional and not required
Perform and review structural analyses of communication towers, mounts, and related structures per building codes
Use engineering software, including FEA tools such as RISA 3D and TNX Tower
Design and review structural upgrades for increased capacity in towers and foundations
Represent the company in TIA-222 / TR-14 standards development efforts
Convert field notes, plans, and sketches into construction drawings using AutoCAD
Revise drawings per client/internal redlines
Adapt client-specific templates and standards
Perform detailed QA/QC checks and redlines
Design and review concrete pads, equipment frames, and other structural components
Reports to Director of Engineering
Supervises a team of Engineers and/or Designers
Manage performance, provide technical direction, and lead training for team members
Collaborate with leadership and HR to recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain staff
Partner with other Managers and Directors to balance workloads and maintain production quality
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and goal-setting for direct reports
Address and resolve personnel matters in conjunction with HR
May be exposed to weather elements
Open locks, gates, and obtain field measurements/photos
Ability to climb ladders if needed (accommodation available as required)
Proficient in RISA 3D, TNX Tower, and/or AutoCAD
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Effective communicator across internal teams and with clients
Expertise in civil and structural engineering for telecom infrastructure
In-depth understanding of telecom industry codes and standards
Able to prioritize, multitask, and manage multiple project demands
Skilled in leading meetings and motivating technical teams
Qualifications
6–10 years of telecom structural or CAD experience preferred, or 8–12 years of general engineering experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline required (Structural emphasis preferred)
PE Certification and NCEES record required
