Aegis is proud to partner with a thriving manufacturer in Des Plaines, IL looking for a hands on Manufacturing Engineer to join the team. If you are passionate about process improvement and opportunities for growth - this is the position for you! This position is ideal for someone with 5+ years in a continuous improvement role in a true production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the sole Manufacturing Engineer across two facilities.

Lead lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and cost reduction.

Work closely with the Plant Manager and other leaders to proactively identify issues and implement solutions.

Support and help implement new automation equipment, including a new extrusion line and additional CAPEX projects.

Partner with cross-functional teams on ERP implementation (IFS), focusing on process data.

Optimize new product setup times and integrate appropriate process monitoring systems.

Be a daily presence on the production floor, working alongside technicians, operators, and supervisors.

What We’re Looking For:

Must Haves:

3 - 5+ years of experience in a continuous improvement-focused role within a production/manufacturing environment.

Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, CI, or Process Engineering.

Proven ability to identify, lead, and execute process improvements independently.

Experience with automation equipment (mechanical/electrical systems) and a love of being hands-on.

Excellent communication skills—you proactively update stakeholders and confidently present findings or concerns.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (strongly preferred).

Preferred:

CAPEX project experience (commissioning, implementing, troubleshooting equipment).

Lean Six Sigma certification.

Background in plastics manufacturing (injection molding or extrusion), though candidates from other production environments (CPG, food, automotive, etc.) are welcome.
