Network Engineer
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our growing IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in core routing and switching, experience with cloud networking technologies such as AWS or Azure, and a solid understanding of firewall technologies, especially Cisco's Firepower Threat Defense (FTD).
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable network solutions across on-premise and cloud environments.
Manage and optimize core routing and switching infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewall technologies, with an emphasis on Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD).
Collaborate with cloud architects and DevOps teams to integrate and support network connectivity within AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
Monitor network performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.
Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, topologies, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in incident response and problem resolution for network-related issues.
Stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices in networking and cloud infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in network engineering.
Strong knowledge of core routing and switching technologies (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP).
Hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD).
Must have experience with cloud networking solutions and architectures in AWS, Azure, or similar environments.
Familiarity with VPN technologies, NAT, ACLs, and network segmentation.
Ability to analyze complex network issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, or related) are a plus.
Experience with automation and scripting for network tasks (e.g., Python, Ansible).
Exposure to SD-WAN or other modern networking technologies.
Role is hybrid with more face time at the start of the work.
