JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Department of Materials Science and Enginering in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is seeking applicants for part-time job of undergraduate research assistant.

Job duties to include:

synthesize polyvinylacetate

hydrolyze that polymer to polyvinylalcohol and then partially reacetylate to make a variety of random copolymers of vinyl alcohol and vinyl acetate

study rheology of aqueous solutions

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

strong engineering skills

organic chemistry lab course

ability to work independently

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $15/hour.
