Role Summary
At Pizzeria Vetri, the Junior Sous Chef supports the culinary leadership team by helping oversee the daily execution of our pizza-focused menu and maintaining the standards of excellence that define our brand. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong foundation in kitchen operations, a passion for artisanal pizza, and a desire to grow into a leadership position. The Junior Sous Chef plays a key role in station execution, team leadership, quality control, and ensuring food safety compliance.
Role Responsibilities
Execute Pizzeria Vetri’s pizza and antipasti menu with consistency and precision, maintaining URBN’s culinary standards.
Support the culinary leadership team in managing the kitchen during service, including overseeing line flow and communication from the pass.
Supervise kitchen staff in the absence of senior culinary leadership; serve as a mentor for line cooks and prep staff.
Prepare and oversee dough production, fermentation schedules, and daily pizza mise en place.
Assist in training team members on recipes, techniques (e.g., wood-fired pizza ovens, dough stretching), and plating standards.
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including ServSafe protocols and proper labeling, dating, and storage practices.
Contribute to inventory control by assisting with ordering, receiving, and proper storage of ingredients and supplies.
Participate in daily prep, station setup, and breakdown procedures; complete line checks and prep sheets.
Help ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets quality and presentation expectations.
Cultivate a positive and collaborative kitchen culture that aligns with the values of the Menus & Venues group.
Role Qualifications
2+ years of professional kitchen experience; pizza-making experience strongly preferred.
Basic understanding of dough handling, fermentation, and traditional pizza oven operation.
ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform in a fast-paced environment.
Strong knife skills and knowledge of culinary techniques.
A positive, team-first attitude and the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with coworkers and management.
Passion for scratch cooking and a desire to grow within the culinary field.

Starting from USD $22.00/Hr.
