SolidWorks Engineering CAD Technician

Job Description

Phenix Truck & Van is seeking talented candidates for a SolidWorks Engineering CAD Technician position to join our design & engineering team. If you have a passion for manufacturing, computer-aided design (CAD) and would enjoy work truck solutions and automotive systems, this may be an excellent opportunity!

The SolidWorks Engineering CAD Technician takes Solidworks CAD Models and generates production-ready drawings and BOMs for production release. This position works closely with team members to execute projects in a timely manner. There may be times where this position requires additional modeling and engineering department support.

Candidate must be proficient in 3D CAD utilizing SolidWorks. Candidate must be able to work under limited supervision, be a self-starter and enjoy working in a team environment.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in CAD Drafting or equivalent technical/fieldwork experience

Minimum of 2-3 years Solidworks CAD experience & Drafting

Sheet metal manufacturing process knowledge and experience

Basic knowledge of vehicle systems & manufacturing processes

Be mechanically inclined

Required Skills

Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and written specifications

Ability to communicate effectively with management and shop personnel

Possess excellent time management skills

Ability to finish projects on time with limited supervision

Must be flexible and able to handle multiple projects & priorities

Ability to adjust to high-pressure and rapidly changing business conditions

Required Software Proficiency:

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams...)

Adobe Acrobat

SolidWorks 2024

Work Environment

Typical office environment conditions for design and workstation tasks (~70%)

A portion of the designer’s time will be spent in a manufacturing floor/shop environment, under & on vehicles (~30%)
