Lab Technician

Job Description

We’re seeking a Materials & Additive Lab Technician to support laboratory operations at Kennametal, a global leader in advanced materials and tooling solutions.

Job Type:

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

• Pay: $45,000–$50,000/year

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct Archimedes density testing on sintered parts with precision

• Prepare samples for metallography (cutting, mounting, polishing, etching)

• Perform magnetic property measurements (Ms, Hc) using specialized equipment

• Assist engineers with microstructure analysis via optical and SEM techniques

• Maintain accurate test records, inventory, and calibration logs

• Support lab upkeep, safety, and cleanliness standards

• Use Microsoft Excel for tracking and documentation

What We’re Looking For:

• Hands-on experience with lab measurement tools and procedures

• Familiarity with density testing, magnetic measurement, or metallography

• Experience with carbide (WC-Co), powder metallurgy, or sintering a plus

• Knowledge of VSMs, permeameters, or related equipment preferred

• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
