Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Operations/Construction Manager [ located in the Central Illinois area] to lead and optimize our construction operations. This role will oversee project execution, workforce management, safety compliance, and operational efficiency across multiple commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction with self-performing work, ensuring seamless coordination between teams, adherence to project timelines, and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP:

Oversee construction operations across the Central Illinois region, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and within budget.

PROJECT OVERSIGHT:

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field staff.

SELF-PERFORMING WORK:

Directly manage and optimize self-performed trades, ensuring productivity, resource allocation, and cost control.

WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT:

Supervise and mentor construction teams.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:

Identify and implement best practices to enhance project delivery and streamline operations.

BUDGET & COST CONTROL:

Monitor project budgets, labor costs, and material expenses to ensure financial targets are met.

CLIENT & STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS:

Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.

TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION:

Leverage construction technology and software (such as Procore, Bluebeam, or equivalent) to enhance project management and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Proven experience (7+ years) in commercial construction operations, preferably in a General Contractor or Construction Management environment.

Strong background in self-performing work, with expertise in concrete, carpentry, demolition, or other key trades.

Leadership experience managing field teams, superintendents, and subcontractors.

Deep understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and project management.

Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.Company Description
