An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support munication needs within an elementary school environment in Waterbury, CT. This contract position for the school year calls for a dedicated professional who is passionate about fostering inclusive educational experiences for all students.

Qualifications:

Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (ASL)

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or a related field

Minimum of 2 years of interpreting experience, preferably in educational settings

Strong understanding of deaf culture and mitment to promoting accessibility

Excellent interpersonal and munication skills

Ability to work collaboratively with educators and staff

Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant signing systems

Location:

Waterbury, CT - Elementary School

Responsibilities:

Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, facilitating access to the curriculum

Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure effective munication and support

Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities

Monitor and document student progress and munication needs

Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the diverse needs of students and educational settings

Maintain confidentiality and ply with all relevant regulations regarding student information
