Job Title: Marketing Demand Generation Manager

SUMMARY
The Marketing Demand Generation Manager is responsible for driving awareness, engagement, and qualified leads for Vernier products and services across K–12 and higher education markets with a particular emphasis on district administrators and decision-makers. This role leads the development and execution of multi-channel campaigns, including advertising and events tailored to our target personas and states and aligned with our Integrated Marketing Plan and strategic marketing goals.
This individual supervises the Demand Generation Team, including events and content marketing professionals. They collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing, CMO, product marketing, sales, and delight teams to execute campaigns that drive measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate is analytical, curious, results-driven, and brings a strong understanding of both the education market and the buyer’s journey.
The manager partners with internal stakeholders and external agencies to launch, optimize, and report on campaigns, including creating and overseeing dashboards and reporting tools to evaluate performance, identify insights, and optimize marketing effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Campaign Strategy and Execution:
Work with CMO and Director of Marketing to create and lead the strategy, planning, and execution of multi-channel campaigns across email, advertising, digital, social, events and webinars.
Build campaigns that move leads from awareness to consideration to conversion aligned to our marketing plan.
Collaborate with product marketing to incorporate key messages and go-to-market campaigns for new offerings.
Design and manage lead nurture programs that improve MQL to SQL conversion.
Ensure content aligns to funnel stages and supports campaign and conversion goals.
Execute A/B testing strategies and execution across all channels.
Monitor and optimize campaigns and programs.
Deliver comprehensive dashboards aligned to executive priorities.
Advertising and Media:
Working with the advertising agency of record, develop and manage advertising calendar, ensuring timely delivery of assets, UTM tracking, and performance analysis.
Collaborate with marketing leadership on advertising strategy across paid digital, print, and partner channels.
Monitor and report campaign ROI.
Events Strategy:
Oversee execution of in-person and online event strategies that support demand generation and segment goals.
Collaborate with science content experts to deliver high-impact and well-leveraged conference and workshop experiences.
Must be willing to travel to priority in-person events.
Analytics and Optimization:
Lead the development and maintenance of marketing dashboards in Salesforce and marketing automation platforms.
Track and report on campaign effectiveness, funnel metrics, and lead progression.
Partner with sales and delight teams to qualify leads and implement lead handoff and follow-up processes.
Identify performance gaps and make data-informed optimizations.
Team Leadership:
Directly supervise the Demand Generation Team, including content and event marketing professionals.
Provide mentorship, feedback, and performance evaluations through regular 1:1s and quarterly reviews.
Ensure alignment to team goals, clear expectations, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Other:
Requires travel by air and car.
Provides stellar customer service by maintaining professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
Works independently under limited supervision. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Marketing Demand Generation Team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:
Oversee training of new and existing employees on departmental processes and procedures.
Assign, direct, and evaluate performance.
Establish clear and regular communication expectations.
Motivate, coach, counsel, recognize/reward performance, address complaints, and discipline workers.
Conducts quarterly one-on-one meetings and timely performance reviews with all direct reports.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university required. Must have seven to 10 years of related experience, with significant experience in education marketing, education technology preferred. Experience in district-level marketing is strongly preferred. A minimum of two years of direct people management experience is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft compelling marketing copy, campaign briefs, reports, and customer-facing content tailored to different stages of the funnel. Strong analytical communication is essential, including the ability to interpret performance data, present insights clearly, and make actionable recommendations. Candidate must be comfortable creating and maintaining campaign and pipeline dashboards, and regularly reporting results to cross-functional stakeholders including sales, marketing, and leadership teams.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
