Job Description
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing employees in production departments, ensuring training, motivation, and discipline are maintained effectively. This role requires maintaining a professional and respectful work environment while mentoring and leading employees. The position involves recommending procedural changes to reduce costs, resolve problems, ensure product quality, reduce scrap, and improve production efficiency.
Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor production employees, providing leadership and direction.
Maintain confidentiality regarding supervisory and management matters.
Recommend procedural and equipment changes to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.
Initiate maintenance and repair work orders for machinery and equipment.
Audit hourly employee timecards for accuracy and update payroll electronic timecards.
Administer and enforce company rules, regulations, and policies.
Ensure compliance with safety programs and represent the company in grievance proceedings.
Evaluate employee performance and establish goals for manufacturing techniques.
Maintain housekeeping standards and control the handling of toxic and hazardous materials.
Interface with other departments to meet customer deadlines.
Inspect and measure parts to verify conformance to specifications.
Direct workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair non-conforming products.
Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
Develop and implement measures to improve production methods and product quality.
Analyze and resolve work problems, assisting workers as needed.Essential Skills
Experience in production supervision and management.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and process improvement.
Ability to understand production schedules and production cards.
Proficiency in using bar code readers.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent time management, project coordination, and organizational skills.
Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage data for business decisions.
Proficiency in basic algebra and geometry, and ability to calculate various figures.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals and technical procedures.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
2 or more years of supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred.
Ability to pass preemployment checks, and drug screenings.
Strong team building and participation skills.
