Assistant Controller

Position Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to support the finance department by managing day-to-day accounting operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented leader with a strong accounting background and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

Analyze income statements and balance sheets, identifying and explaining significant variances

Prepare and post complex journal entries, including recurring accruals

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting documentation

Collaborate with auditors and provide necessary schedules and explanations

Monitor and process expenditures and ensure timely vendor payments

Review daily cash activity and maintain up-to-date cash ledgers

Build strong partnerships across departments to support business operations

Document procedures and controls for audit and compliance readiness

Maintain a strong internal control environment in accordance with best practices

Supervise and mentor junior accounting team members

Contribute to cross-functional projects and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements

Support the Controller with special projects and other financial duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

CPA or MBA preferred

5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

5+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with SAGE MAS500 a plus

Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting

Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset
