Junior Optical Test Engineer (Long Term Contract)

Sunnyvale, CA

Duties:

· Characterization of optical components and modules of AR/VR Displays

· Performing the following tests across different components and modules

o Roughness or profile measurements

o Thickness, flatness, and parallelism

o Color profile or spectral response

o Image quality metrics such as MTF, PSF, etc.

o Polarization

· Alignment of optical components for testing and characterization

· Setting up and managing demos to engineers and other focus groups around the quality and performance of a system

· Creating test experiments and jigs to perform analysis on optical components

· Collecting and performing statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics

Skills & Experience:

· Hands-on experience with various optical metrology tools such as MTF testers, interferometers, profilometers, spectrometers, ellipsometers, microscopes etc.

· Experience in working in an optical lab and knowledge of best laboratory practices

· Knowledge of geometrical and physical optics

· Knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization

· Knowledge of color measurement principles

· Experience in test automation (instrument control and data collection) using LabView, MATLAB or Python.

· Ability to script and prototype image analysis algorithms in MATLAB or Python

· 1-3 years of relevant experience in industry or academics

· Degree in optics, optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering or related field is preferred
