Job Overview:
Coursera is an engineering-first company. Our teams are responsible for maintaining a scalable and reliable platform, in addition to building interactive products for the worldwide learner community. We are made up of teams ranging from Development Infrastructure, Growth, Learner/Consumer Experience, Content Platform, and SDET Engineering. Every day, Engineering teams collaborate with cross-functional partners, including other engineers, data scientists, and product managers. You must be comfortable working in a fast-moving team environment (we deploy many times a day!)
Responsibilities:
Design and implement scalable & robust frontend applications
Measure your work thoroughly, analyze results, and generate hypotheses to drive new product changes through A/B testing
Write and review technical documentation for the components owned by your team
Work with architects and engineers to recommend, develop and review technical designs.
Mentor and guide fellow remote-first engineers to help them improve their technical ability and become more effective software engineers.
Develop and deploy your high-quality code (in JavaScript and React or similar frameworks) following industry best practices and track key service level indicators (SLIs)
Demonstrate a product-first mindset, driving innovation through collaboration with product and design teams.
Measure your work thoroughly, analyze results, and generate hypotheses to drive new product changes through A/B testing.
Debug and fix production issues, lead blameless retrospectives, and participate in the on-call rotation to ensure adherence to the service level agreements (SLAs)
Collaborate and mentor team members, and contribute to teams' success improving processes
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience working in a relevant frontend software engineering role
Proficiency in the core technologies of the web: Javascript, HTML, and CSS, experience with at least one modern UI framework (e.g. ReactJS, AngularJS, etc), and experience in building large-scale web applications
Proficiency in implementing responsive web designs, writing unit, integration and e2e tests
Fervent belief in engineering quality and building technical leverage for others
Comfortable working in a fast-moving team environment (we deploy many times a day!)
Data-driven and strongly motivated by success and learnings through experiments and metrics analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and navigate through ambiguity and uncertainty with confidence.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products or services.
Proven track record of delivering results in a resource-constrained environment with limited guidance and supervision.

The ranges listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program as well as equity in the form of RSU’s.
A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity.
