Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Worcester, MA

Shift availability: Days, Evenings, Nights

Pay Range: $19 $30/hour (based on experience)

Sign-on: $10,000

Shift differential: Yes

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Sterile Processing Technician to join our surgical services team. This vital role is responsible for ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, assembled, sterilized, and prepared to support safe and efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Perform all sterile processing functions, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments.

Utilize proper sterilization techniques and equipment according to industry standards and internal protocols.

Accurately assemble surgical trays and procedure case carts using various software systems.

Replenish and prepare materials needed for surgical and interventional procedures.

Collaborate closely with surgical and clinical staff to ensure availability of accurate instrumentation and supplies.

Maintain proper documentation and tracking of instruments and equipment through the sterilization process.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: High school diploma or GED. Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician program or 1 year of relevant sterile processing or operating technician experience. Experience:

Preferred: 1 year of sterile processing experience, especially with formal training or certification. Certifications:

Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Must obtain certification through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) within 8 months of hire.
