Graphic Designer I

Work Schedule: Hybrid (On-site: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Remote: Wednesday, Friday)
Position Summary:
CMS Energy is seeking a Graphic Designer I to join our dynamic communications team. This role is responsible for creating original, engaging, and visually compelling designs across a variety of channels to inform, educate, and inspire our target audiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual communications, experience with photography and video editing, and the ability to transform complex technical information into easy-to-understand visual content.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop multi-channel visual content including digital (static and HTML5), out-of-home (OOH) advertisements, emails, web graphics, social media content, direct mail, infographics, and print ads.
Create visual solutions that support strategic messaging and storytelling goals.
Translate technical and regulatory content into intuitive and engaging visual formats.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define visual strategies aligned with brand standards and campaign objectives.
Support Gas Operations communication initiatives by transforming detailed technical data into digestible visual content.
Incorporate Michigan Gas Safety Standards (MGSS) requirements into project planning and execution.
Provide creative input based on industry best practices, data insights, and performance metrics.
Contribute to video and photo production including editing with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
Conduct research to recommend innovative tools and design solutions for digital and print platforms.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in graphic design or a similar creative role.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong photography and video editing skills.
Excellent eye for detail, layout, typography, and color theory.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Experience designing complex technical visuals and regulatory documentation.
Working knowledge of web-oriented design tools is a plus.
