The Lifecycle Engineer provides in-service support of Naval Propulsion Systems including but not limited to Fixed Pitch Propellers (FPP), Controlled Pitch Propellers (CPP), Waterjets, and associated auxiliary systems.

What you will be doing:
With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to be responsible for providing technical support for engineering investigations (EI), safety related investigations and documentation, customer technical issues, and technical publications (bulletins). As part of the Engineering for Services (Efs) team, you will provide in-service product engineering support to internal and external customers on U.S. Naval Marine Propulsion systems under the technical authority of the Chief Engineer. You will work closely with other Lifecycle engineers, the Program team, and other Engineering teams to provide technical solutions during all product lifecycle phases, from early pre-contract concept development, through design maturation and production and into service to achieve an optimum combination of availability, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle affordability.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage and execute Root Cause Analysis, Engineering Investigation scope definition, high quality Engineering reports, and effective customer presentations within the Safety Process framework with guidance from the Lifecycle engineering team lead.
Assist Subject Matter Experts (SME) to support both customer and RR field service teams on technical issues, including occasional off-hour support.
Develop Technical Bulletins (TBs) and Technical Publication updates as required or serve as peer reviewer for others on the team.
Support in-service customer program reviews, and/or technical integration meetings as required
Support the development of maintenance and provisioning datasets, derived from the design/production engineering data, for each product with the team’s accountability. Interface across other functions to assure maintenance significant items are identified and available in the aftermarket
Execute improvements to process, tools, and methods for Service Engineering to increase efficiency and effectiveness at the direction of SMEs and the Team Lead. Liaise with the Engineering Leadership and System Design Engineer(s) to support design improvements from issues or opportunities identified from in-service experience
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 0-1 years of experience in product support or technical problem solving; Or
Master’s Degree in Engineering; Or
JD/PhD
Must be US Citizen to be considered for this role
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or familiarity with US Naval Surface Ship Propulsion Systems (Controlled Pitch Propellers, Fixed Pitch Propellers, and Waterjet Propulsion Systems).
Experience in the marine industry covering technical support, technical documentation, problem-solving, Naval standards, and Mil-Specifications.
Self-motivated, confident individual with strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to make well-informed, rational decisions and demonstrate problem-solving skills within organizational policies and procedures.
Willingness to travel infrequently on a scheduled and unscheduled basis. Comfortable working periodically in an industrial, shipyard, or shipboard environment.
