Description
SRNL’s Glass Cement, and Ceramics Science group is seeking a qualified candidate to support the laboratory’s portfolio in the areas of materials sciences, materials development for the immobilization of nuclear wastes, and the chemical phenomenology of these materials.
Responsibilities
Successful candidates would have a demonstrated ability to perform research in ceramic and cementitious materials processing related to nuclear and other waste types. The successful candidate will participate in developing, planning, and executing funded research projects with the supervision of senior researchers.
Successful candidates would have demonstrated technical skills to solve complex scientific problems and performing state of the art research. Generally, such skills would reflect an advanced degree in materials science/engineering, chemistry, civil or environmental engineering.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
BS + 2-3 yrs; MS + 0-2 yrs; PhD + 0-1 yrs
Strong oral/written communication skills.
Excellent organization skills
Basic computer skills (MS Office)
This position will require selected candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance for which U.S. Citizenship is legally required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in materials science/engineering, chemistry, civil or environmental engineering.
