Typical Set, LLC Position: Data Analyst III Responsible for owning and simplifying the flow of data used by Voleon’s production trading algorithms.

Curate datasets and build processes and tools to standardize and simplify data curation.

Apply statistical and mathematical theory and methods to collect, organize, and present numerical data as usable information for our business operations.

Duties: 1) perform manual steps and develop automated processes to ensure the completeness and integrity of massive amounts of mission critical financial data pertaining to stocks, bonds, futures, and commodities; 2) partner with Members of Research Staff to curate new and existing datasets; 3) drive continuous improvements to data quality procedures and a consistent approach to how data quality is measured, monitored, and reported; 4) design systematic and automated processes and tools that allow the team to scale and rapidly onboard new datasets; and 5) contribute to ensuring the continuous operation of production-critical systems.

May telecommute from any location in the U.S.

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field and 9 months of full-time data analytics work experience.

Must also have demonstrated experience with each of the following: 1) Working with Python and R to perform exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, data transformation, and data visualization; 2) Applying statistical methods and quantitative analysis to financial and accounting data for data validation and business insights; 3) Working with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL including optimizing database design and writing efficient SQL queries for data analysis; 4) Working with data engineering techniques such as developing and maintaining data ETL processes for financial data and quantitative investment applications with tools like Apache Airflow; 5) Working with big data frameworks like Hadoop and Apache Spark and distributed computing and parallel processing; 6) Developing in a production-facing environment and software engineering tools including bash, unix, and git; and 7) Conducting technical interviews for data analysts positions and mentoring junior data analysts to excel in data analytics work through comprehensive training and hands-on production support.

Will accept experience gained before, during, or after Master’s program.

Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.

5% domestic travel required for team meetings.

Full time, telecommuting available from anywhere in US.

Salary: $130,000 to $145,000/year.
