Under general supervision, this position performs basic task associated with driving a company truck with an attached trailer and the installation of underground gas utilities, electrical, communication and/or tv cable. The ideal candidate will operate a company truck with an attached trailer to transport labor crew, materials and equipment to various jobsites. The position also includes providing assistance to the labor crew in performing other duties associated with the project as well as basic truck and equipment maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works under the direct supervision of an assigned Foreman and Construction Supervisor.

Ability to operate company vehicle with a trailer in a professional, safe and courteous manner.

Responsible for picking up material from warehouse/vendors per supervisor’s instructions.

Responsible for hauling material to jobsite/yard in a timely manner per supervisor’s instructions.

Ensures that all equipment and tools are tied securely to truck and/or trailer.

Monitors truck and/or trailer to ensure load is not overweight.

Responsible at times to work with no immediate direct supervision.

Responsible for ensuring that company vehicle is clean and in good working condition.

Performs daily inspections in accordance with company policy.

Responsible for reporting any malfunctions of company vehicle.

Responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures.

Performs minor truck maintenance.

Reports any traffic violations, accidents and fines immediately.

Performs all other natural gas construction related duties as per Operator Qualification certifications.

Responsible for lifting and carrying material and equipment throughout the work area using appropriate equipment and/or safety gear.

Perform hand digging using a hand shovel to dig around existing utility structures to prevent damage.

Communicates all pertinent job related information to supervisor on a daily basis.

Performs any and all other duties assigned by authorized personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a valid driver’s license

Must be able to drive a truck with a trailer attached

Must have ability to follow directions

Must be able to work effectively as part of a crew

Must have or able to obtain knowledge of Operator’s Qualification Task certifications related to natural gas installation and maintenance as well as various other required safety related training certifications (First Aid, Competent Person, etc…

ON-CALL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires working overtime and may require weekend work, night work and/or overnight travel.
