Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Machine Operator, where you will play a crucial role in the production of cement mixes, gravel, and sandbags. You will be responsible for operating machines that fill bags of cement mix, setting up machines based on product mix requirements, and ensuring the process runs smoothly. This position involves repetitive tasks and occasional manual lifting in a dusty environment. A full-face respirator will be provided for your safety.

Responsibilities

Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.

Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or templates.

Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunctions.

Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearances, ensuring it meets quality requirements.

Perform routine machine maintenance.

Assist other operators in setting up machines and performing any necessary tasks to meet deadlines and complete products.Essential Skills

Proficiency in machine operation and general production tasks.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Physical stamina to frequently stand for extended periods and lift up to 100 lbs.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment

Work in a small, dusty shop with a team of five production members. The facility includes conveyor systems, a dryer/tumbler, tall silos for material storage, bagging machines, and stacking/palletizing machines. The position follows a swing shift schedule from 2pm to 10:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a shift differential when hired directly.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
