Our client is seeking a highly skilled Property Accountant to join our team! Hybrid work opportunity - 3 days onsite/2 remote! This role will focus on managing financial activities and reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties, ensuring compliance with standard accounting principles. Key Responsibilities
Record and reconcile financial transactions for the assigned property portfolio.
Manage daily cash reporting and address bank and treasury-related issues as needed.
Process tenant receipts, facilitate collections, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Oversee monthly debt payments, including reconciliation and processing.
Prepare annual audit work papers and provide support for external audits.
Conduct monthly close activities as the primary financial point of contact, including:
Portfolio bank account reconciliations
Straight-line rent reconciliations
Real Estate in Progress and Construction in Progress reconciliations
Tenant security deposit reconciliations and accrual preparations
Lead financial meetings with property and operations management to review and analyze general ledgers.
Review accounts payable (AP) for portfolio; coordinate with the Staff Accountant to address discrepancies.
Ensure annual budgets and forecasts are updated in collaboration with cross-functional teams and provide variance commentary.
Complete Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and estimates for tenants.
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of all reporting and reconciliations.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives by adhering to and suggesting changes to standard operating procedures.
Handle special projects and tasks assigned by management.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BA/BS), preferably with experience in real estate development or construction.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and basic accounting procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with enterprise accounting software such as SAP, NetSuite, Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or the equivalent.
3-5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver accurate reports under deadlines.
