Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team in Lafayette, Indiana. This position involves assembling large diesel and natural gas engines using a variety of hand and power tools, gauges, measuring devices, specialized torque equipment, and electrical testing equipment. The role requires manipulating engine components, learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, and troubleshooting and repairing in-process engines.

Responsibilities

Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools.

Utilize gauges, measuring devices, specialized torque equipment, and electrical testing equipment.

Manipulate engine components during assembly process.

Learn technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair.

Support safety, quality, and production goals.

Utilize computer skills for various applications.

Read and interpret standard work in computer programs, engineering prints, and factory paperwork.Essential Skills

Proficiency with hand and power tools.

Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and factory paperwork.

Strong attention to detail.

Technical learning abilities.

Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, maintenance, and facilities is preferred.

1+ years experience in a heavy production environment or similar.

1+ years experience using hand or power tools.

1+ years experience following written work instructions, SOPs, blueprints, etc.

Experience with measuring tools is highly preferred.

Ability to pass written and hands-on assessment during training period.

Steel-toed or composite shoes required to start.

Work Environment

Our manufacturing environment is split between an assembly side and a machine shop, with temperature control throughout. We maintain a relaxed dress code and prioritize a clean facility. Safety is our highest priority, and PPE is non-negotiable, including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses, which are provided. Employees work in teams on the assembly line, with varying time for each job. The campus is tobacco-free, and approved break times allow for use of tobacco products in a vehicle in the parking lot.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.
