The Technical — Business Intelligence Analyst position will help drive the optimization of the business data infrastructure; ensuring that data is accessible, accurate, and actionable for various business functions. This role is crucial for developing and automating data-driven solutions, enhancing business intelligence capabilities, and streamlining both financial and internal reporting.
Job Responsibilities
Database Management:
Assist with the management, maintenance, and optimization of the company's database in BigQuery/Azure*, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
Heavily utilize SQL to query, manipulate, and analyze data for various business needs.
Data Engineering:
Utilize ETL tools such as Skyvia and Azure DataFactory to create and manage data pipelines between SalesForce/FinancialForce and Bigquery/Azure*.
Own the data integrity and cleaning via use of SQL and other best practice data tools.
Work with other analysts on ensuring clean data sets to effectively perform their duties in a timely manner.
Ownership of Historical Data:
Responsible for managing historical Bayard & Appcast (Quickbooks) data stored in BigQuery/Azure*.
Utilize SQL to query historical data from NetSuite that is only stored in this database, for use in audits and other analysis purposes.
Assist with managing the relationship with Gurus BI consultants.
Coordination with Group:
Work with StepStone to provide accurate and easily consumable data from Appcast financial & operational departments.
Data Governance:
Collaborating with Financial Force and Salesforce admins to ensure data accuracy and consistency across the organization, establishing a single source of truth.
Business Intelligence & Dashboard Development:
Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards to provide actionable insights to internal teams.
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure dashboard solutions meet business needs and improve data-driven decision-making.
Data Automation:
Automate repetitive Excel tasks and financial processes for the Finance team; improving efficiency, reducing manual errors, and accelerating reporting timelines.
Financial Reporting:
Create and streamline core financial reports, including Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and Balance Sheets, to support the finance team in delivering timely and accurate financial insights.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with different departments, including Finance, Creative, SalesOps and others, to gather requirements, provide data-driven insights, and ensure the seamless integration of BI tools into business operations alongside Salesforce/FinancialForce.
Train:
Act as the business intelligence subject matter expert. Training other analysts in fundamental understanding of BI best practice, including SQL coding and PowerBI development. Qualifications
Proficient in managing databases like BigQuery and Azure.
Advanced SQL skills for querying, data manipulation, data engineering, and analysis.
Familiarity with the back-end of data integration platforms like Salesforce and FinancialForce.
Expertise in designing and maintaining dashboards using Power BI and the DAX language used within it to align with changing business needs and visibility to data, analytics and results.
Ability to translate business requirements into actionable BI solution.
Extremely advanced Excel skills to provide support to those who use it
Strong understanding of core financial & accounting principals to create and optimize financial reports like P&L statements and balance sheets.
Proven ability to collaborate across departments to align BI strategies with business needs.
Expertise in mapping processes and systems to align with the end-to-end customer journey.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of best practices in data management and data security.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to derive insights from complex datasets.
Effective communication skills to work with stakeholders and translate technical information into business-friendly terms.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple data-related projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer or Data Science, Finance, IS or related field
5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data engineering, or analytics.
2+ years of experience in a technical role in BI tools and best practices.
Travel Requirements
Travel for this position is occasional, typically occurring a few times a year to attend internal and external meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will not supervise others.
