Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a productive, efficient, quality-oriented, and safe work atmosphere on their assigned shift. This role is critical in ensuring consistent performance, fair and equitable treatment of employees, and the delivery of high-quality products that exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Process Oversight: Troubleshoot, evaluate, and adjust molding processes to maintain quality and production standards; investigate root causes of deviations.
Production Leadership: Manage daily floor operations including mold setups/changes, material usage, manpower allocation, and quality control.
Maintenance Coordination: Oversee real-time and preventative maintenance; coordinate with Maintenance staff for complex repairs and training opportunities.
Tooling Management: Support mold cleaning and maintenance; work closely with the Tooling Team for repairs and improvements.
Shift Communication: Provide thorough shift change documentation and timely reporting on operations.
Inventory & Supplies: Ensure adequate inventory levels; request additional supplies as needed.
Team Supervision: Promote fairness, distribute work assignments equitably, and address performance and disciplinary matters professionally.
Performance Management: Complete evaluations, recommend promotions or corrective actions, and support employee development.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety policies, maintain clean workspaces, and champion a proactive safety culture.
Quality Systems: Support and adhere to the companyâ s Quality Management System (QMS).
Additional Duties: Fulfill other business-related tasks as assigned.
Key Qualifications
Bachelorâ s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related fieldâ or equivalent experience.
3â 5 years of experience in injection molding process management.
3â 5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of safety and quality control standards (e.g., SPC).
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform or coordinate maintenance activities.
Capable of working 12-hour shifts and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Environment: Exposure to machinery, chemicals, grease/oils, and confined spaces in a manufacturing setting.
Physical: Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs.), reaching, kneeling, crawling, and standing for extended periods.
Vision & Hearing: Normal visual and auditory capabilities, with or without correction.
Schedule Flexibility: Must be able to work occasional overtime or weekend shifts with short notice.
