Role: CI (Hardware Planner) Location: Plano, TX Primary Focus of the Role: The HW Planner is responsible for planning, documenting, and validating hardware (HW) infrastructure in support of telecom/cloud/data center projects — specifically in Nokia's Cloud Infrastructure (CI) domain.
This person ensures the correct hardware (servers, storage, switches) is planned and deployed in the data center or lab environment, following strict standards.
Core Responsibilities: Hardware Planning & Documentation: NFVI Standards: Understand and apply Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI) standards v3.0 & v4.0 to design compliant systems.
BoM Validation: Review and verify the Bill of Materials (BoM) against approved hardware blueprints (AirFrame, HPE, Dell). Create EPF & LLD: EPF (Engineering Planning File) – Detailed hardware planning file that includes rack layout, power, cabling, etc.
HW LLD (Low-Level Design) – Technical design for how hardware is placed and connected.
Data Center Planning Knowledge: Must understand: Hardware rack placement Cabling New rack installations and hardware expansions Assist with virtual and on-site surveys, guiding installation teams.
Project Communication: Present and revise HW LLDs with stakeholders.
Report design progress and highlight any risks/issues.
Support customer queries during planning and execution.
Deliverables: Complete and accurate EPF/HW LLD documents for each assigned site.
Assist in Hardware Acceptance Test Plans as per customer requirements.
MoP (Method of Procedure) documents for installations and changes.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Experience: T-Mobile experience is a big plus (understanding MSO requirements, power design—DC/AC, etc.). Hands-on experience with: Red Hat OS deployment BIOS/RAID/Firmware configuration EMS tools (NADCM, HP OneView, Dell OpenManage) Switch Fabric (OOB, Leaf, Spine, BLeaf) on HPE and Dell Required Skills: Strong hardware understanding (AirFrame, HPE, Dell) Excellent networking fundamentals Familiarity with data center infrastructure Strong communication and documentation skills (MoPs, LLDs, EPFs) Must communicate clearly with Project Managers (TPM/PM) and customers
