Business Intelligence Analyst (Hybrid BA/BI role) Title Business Intelligence Analyst (Hybrid BA/BI role) Location Corporate Dulles, VA Department CO2OPS-Corporate Operations Reports To Director, Business Intelligence Overview The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will be responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that drive business value and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
The analyst will support the full lifecycle of BI projects - from gathering and analyzing requirements, performing in-depth data analysis, to designing, testing BI solutions and training users.
This hybrid role is ideal for someone who is both business-savvy and technically skilled in data and analytics tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements for data and reporting needs.
Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.
Extract, manipulate and analyze data from various sources using SQL and other data querying tools.
Translate business requirements into BI solution designs, including wireframes and mockups.
Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends to support strategic planning and operational efficiency.
Perform data validation and quality assurance testing to ensure accuracy of BI deliverables.
Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and ensure solutions meet user expectations.
Train and support end users, create documentation and user guides for BI solutions.
Document data definitions, mappings, and transformations, dashboard logic, and user guides to promote self-service BI.
Partner with data engineers to ensure data models and data pipeline meet reporting needs.
Present findings to stakeholders in clear, actionable formats (visual, written, verbal). Support data governance and contribute to best practices for data integrity and privacy.
Travel – up to 10% domestically Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst with a focus on data analysis/reporting or BI Analyst or similar hybrid role.
Proficient in SQL and hands-on experience with Excel and Power BI.
Strong understanding of data modeling, KPIs, and data storytelling techniques.
Experience in creating documentation such as Business Requirements Document, wireframes, data mapping & transformations, test scripts, and user guide.
Experience in standardizing processes and implementing best practices to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across all project deliverables.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy.
Experience in Process Reengineering and improvements preferred Experience with enterprise level BI solutions delivery preferred Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL, and Microsoft Azure cloud platform preferred Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies preferred Knowledge of data governance, metadata, and data quality practices preferred Experience in Pharmaceutical industry preferred.
