Innovative Staff Solutions has a full time, long-term contract position open for a Technical Writer working for a service and distribution client in Kentucky. This will be a hybrid position, requiring 3 days a week to be present at their facility in Owensboro, KY.
The role of the Technical Writer is to support the smooth and timely rollout of documentation. The Technical Writer will report to the Documentation Manager as part of the Documentation Team to specialize in creating, editing, and coordinating process documentation and help topics and other documents for the enterprise. The Technical Writer will also contribute to the internal framework including coordinating documentation and processes (e.g., compliance, audits, quality, etc.). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Comply with and help enforce documentation standards, policies, and procedures
Comfortable learning and embracing new and existing technologies.
Ability to work with diverse groups and communicate amongst various levels of management.
Flexibility and willingness to change ideas or perceptions based on new information or direction.
Work collaboratively amongst documentation and external teams to align documentation and to approved source information.
Write help topics and other documentation for the UBS Program.
Comply with and help enforce documentation standards, policies, and procedures.
Coordinate documentation from policy to change management.
Report status, issues, and risks to Documentation Manager on a regular basis.
Write SOPs related to process compliance and change management.
Work closely with the Documentation Manager to ensure documentation is well maintained.
Ad-hoc activities, as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in English or equivalent work experience/demonstrated ability.
3 – 5 years of documentation or technical writing experience.
Experience producing documentation in an Agile environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail oriented, organized and prioritizes effectively.
High level of self-motivation and desire to grow in the role.
Ability to work effectively both independently and cooperatively in a virtual team environment.
Solution oriented with strong analysis skills.
Able to critically evaluate information from multiple sources.
Working knowledge of process mapping and change management is preferred.
Intermediate computer skills
Considerable familiarity with common software tools, specifically Microsoft Office applications, including Visio, SharePoint; experience with MS Teams is a plus.
Intermediate knowledge of HTML/CSS.
