Are you a detail-oriented and analytical accounting professional ready to take on a challenging role in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment? We are looking for an experienced Project Accountant with exceptional accounting and cost analysis skills to oversee critical project financials, ensure accuracy in reporting, and provide key support to Regional and Project Managers, Division Managers, and the Senior Management team.

In this role, you’ll manage all aspects of the Job Cost System, keeping team members informed of project statuses across divisions. This position is vital to maintaining operational efficiency and financial visibility for our organization’s diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and maintain the Job Cost System, including job setup, entering budgets and change orders, and correcting posting errors.

Verify accounts payable (AP) postings to projects for accuracy and process inventory transfers to jobs.

Collaborate with Project Managers to review and reconcile job entries, production reports, and precast accruals.

Process adjustments such as back charges, write-offs, and expense postings to ensure precise job costing.

Generate sales data and ensure accuracy by reviewing cost accounting events.

Troubleshoot and coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Precast, Purchasing) to resolve data errors effectively.

Maintain and update the Project Manager Action Item report to assist in project accountability.

Perform month-end job cost closings, generate management reports, and provide commentary for project budget variances.

Reconcile the job costing system with the sales tracking system and ensure seamless transfers between the revenue/cost system and general ledger (GL).

Provide accurate and timely reporting for senior management to support business decisions.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on job costing or project-related roles.

Exceptional numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of cost analysis experience.

Proficient in accounting systems and associated reporting tools (experience with [specific systems, if desired] is a plus).

Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Effective communicator who thrives in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications.
