We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Data Architect to join our dynamic team in supporting our mission of protecting consumers in the financial marketplace. This role is critical in designing, developing, and optimizing robust and scalable data architectures that drive data-informed decision-making and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in data systems, architecture, governance, and engineering practices across a diverse range of technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Modeling: Design and implement logical and physical data models, data warehouses, data lakes, and operational data stores to meet organizational data needs. Create user views, generate DDL, and use tools like SQL Power Architect for modeling.
Data Governance & Standards: Develop and enforce data standards, governance policies, and metadata management practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
System Design & Optimization: Rapidly prototype and deploy scalable, high-performance data systems. Identify and resolve bottlenecks through benchmarking and performance analysis.
Database Management: Manage a variety of database technologies including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Hadoop, Spark, MPP, and NoSQL platforms. Design procedures and functions using TSQL or PL/PGSQL.
ETL Development: Create and maintain ETL pipelines using Python, SQL, and orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow to integrate internal and external data sources.
Security & Privacy Compliance: Ensure secure storage, handling, and processing of sensitive data in accordance with privacy regulations and industry best practices.
Documentation & Metadata: Develop comprehensive documentation including data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and dataflow diagrams to support technical staff and end-users.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with data analysts, scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to support analytics, reporting, and strategic initiatives.
Data Integration & Migration: Lead integration efforts across diverse systems and support data migration to modern RDBMS or NoSQL platforms.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to defining the agency’s data strategy and selecting appropriate technologies that align with mission goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field (Master’s or relevant certifications preferred).
Proven experience 6+ years as a Data Architect or in a related role, with demonstrated success in designing and managing complex data ecosystems.
Expertise in database technologies: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Hadoop, Spark, MPP systems, and NoSQL platforms.
Strong command of SQL, TSQL, PL/PGSQL, and Python.
Experience with data modeling tools (e.g., SQL Power Architect) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Apache Airflow).
Deep knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration strategies.
Proficiency in implementing data governance, metadata standards, and data security best practices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance and data privacy standards (financial services knowledge is a plus).
Experience with data migration and modernization projects is highly desirable.Additional Requirements
