About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Cost Controller with 2-5 years of experience to join a dynamic team working on a first-of-its-kind geotechnical project in PNG.
The role focuses on delivering effective project cost controls and reporting, acting as the link between Projects and liaising with relevant stakeholders..
Responsibilities
Track and manage overall project spending, including the verification and validation of invoices and claims submitted by suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure all costs are accurately captured and recorded.
Interpret and implement commercial agreements with suppliers and vendors.
Maintain a strong level of precision when assigning costs, assessing invoices, and carrying out related administrative tasks.
Collaborate closely with the Finance team to ensure smooth data handover.
Consistently track expenditures and flag any deviations from the approved budget.
Contribute to resolving issues that could affect the financial performance of the project.
Use cost validation and benchmarking tools to detect and address potential commercial risks.
Prepare and compile progress claims for internal review and formal submission.
About You
A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Min 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in geotechnical, mining, or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, including structural analysis, earthworks, and construction methods.
Proficient in using engineering software and tools for design and analysis.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse disciplines.
Eagerness to work in a remote and dynamic environment, adapting to challenges as they arise.
A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and safety.
Benefits
Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or equivalent discipline
Proven experience in the cost/project controls for FIFO (Fly In Fly Out) Projects
Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Cost Controller
Strong MS Office skills including visual presentation of excel data
Experience with SAGE X3 or equivalent software packages preferable
