Job Summary: Accounts Payable Clerk
The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of Ross Downing by ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Invoice Processing:
Review and verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate authorization.
Code invoices with proper general ledger account codes.
Enter invoices into the accounting system with accuracy and efficiency.
Payment Processing:
Prepare and process payment runs in accordance with payment terms and company policies.
Reconcile vendor statements to ensure all invoices are accounted for and paid on time.
Address and resolve payment discrepancies with vendors.
Vendor Management:
Communicate effectively with vendors to obtain necessary documentation and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Maintain accurate vendor records, including contact information and payment terms.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors.
Month-End Close:
Assist in month-end closing processes related to accounts payable.
Provide support for financial audits and internal audits as needed.
Reconcile and verify expense report receipts and documentation.
Recordkeeping:
Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical records of all accounts payable transactions.
Assist in the development and maintenance of accounts payable procedures.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Knowledge of automotive dealership accounting practices (preferred but not required).
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Accounting or finance education is a plus.
