Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Paramedic to join our dedicated emergency medical services team. The Paramedic will be responsible for providing advanced life support, emergency medical care, and safe transportation to patients in pre-hospital setting. This role requires quick thinking, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Emergency Response:
* Respond rapidly and safely to emergency calls for medical assistance, including accidents, illnesses, and other critical incidents.
* Operate emergency vehicles (ambulances) in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
* Coordinate with other first responders, including fire department personnel, law enforcement, and other emergency medical team members, to ensure effective scene management.
* Patient Assessment and Treatment:
* Assess the patient's condition, including vital signs, medical history, and presentation of illness or injury, to determine the nature and severity of their condition.
* Prioritize medical treatment based on patient needs and established protocols.
* Administer advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support (BLS) procedures, including but not limited to:
* Airway management (e.g., intubation, supraglottic airway devices)
* Cardiac monitoring and defibrillation (manual and automated)
* Intravenous (IV) fluid administration and medication delivery (including narcotics)
* Advanced wound care, splinting, and immobilization
* Advanced procedures as authorized by medical protocols (REGION 7).
* Operate and maintain life support equipment such as cardiac monitors (ZOLL), and other advanced diagnostic tools.
* Provide comfort, reassurance, and emotional support to patients and their families during emergencies.
* Communication and Documentation:
* Communicate effectively and concisely with medical control physicians, hospital staff, and other healthcare professionals to relay patient information, vital signs, medical history, and treatments performed.
* Provide accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatments, interventions, and outcomes in patient care reports (PCRs) in a timely manner. We use ESO.
* Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
* Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:
* Conduct daily checks and inspections of emergency vehicles, communication equipment, and all medical supplies to ensure readiness for immediate response.
* Clean and sanitize the interior of the ambulance and medical equipment after each patient transport, adhering to infection control protocols.
* Monitor and restock medical supplies and equipment, notifying supervisors of any malfunctions or shortages.
* Professional Development:
* Maintain current paramedic certification and licensure in good standing.
* Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay abreast of new medical protocols,
procedures, and best practices.
* Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
* Certifications & Licenses:
* Current Paramedic certification/licensure.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (or equivalent).
* Valid Driver's License
* Experience:
* Minimum of one year of experience as a certified Paramedic in an emergency pre-hospital setting preferred.
* Skills and Abilities:
* Exceptional clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure in emergency situations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact empathetically with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Proficiency in operating advanced medical equipment, technology, and reporting software. (ZOLL monitor, ESO)
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation.
* Physical stamina and strength to lift, carry, and maneuver patients and equipment, often in challenging environments.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift, carry, and move patients weighing up to 150 pounds unassisted and greater with assistance on stretchers, stair chairs, or other patient movement devices.
* Ability to perform CPR and other strenuous physical tasks.
* Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
* Fine motor skills necessary for administering medications, starting IVs, and performing other medical procedures.
