What is an Analyst?
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Analyst to join our team. This Analyst role will work within the Cost & Rate division of the Regulatory Affairs team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing complex analyses, studies, reports and filings with regulatory agencies to support the Company’s cost recovery efforts. This analyst role will work closely with other departments within the Company as well as with regulatory agencies.
What does an Analyst do?
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyzes cost, rate and usage data to identify patterns, create forecast models, and reports
Performs economic and financial analyses for various electric and gas business initiatives
Compiles and analyzes financial and sales data for the preparation of reports and filings with regulatory agencies
Analyzes the costs and rates of the company’s electric and gas services to develop and support the company’s rate schedules, which are then filed with the New York State Public Service Commission (NYPSC)
Designs and maintains the company’s rate schedules, which outline the pricing structure for different types of electric and gas service, including maintaining tariff language to comply with regulatory orders
Works with NYPSC to ensure the company’s rates comply with all applicable regulations and guidelines
Analyzes the impact of rate changes for both the company and the customers
Develops rates billed to customers including commodity prices and surcharges
Represents the department in regulatory proceedings including preparing and presenting expert testimony as needed
Assists in the development of customer, sales and revenue forecasts for the Company’s annual business plan purposes
What does it take to be an Analyst?
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field of study. In lieu of bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields of study, an associate’s degree and 3+ years of analyst experience will be considered.
Strong analytical, quantitative, organizational, computer and written/verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to work individually or as a team (with internal team members or cross functional teams)
Ability to adapt to a variety of assignments and manage a number of projects in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
A valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Master’s degree
5+ years of work experience in a position requiring analytical, quantitative or organizational proficiency
Prior experience in the electric and/or gas utility industry or related field
