Job Description:
As the Accountant at ESSCO Truck & Equipment, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes. Reporting to the Controller, you will manage day-to-day accounting tasks, assist with month-end closing procedures, and support the financial decision-making process. This role requires a high degree of attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
Utilize accounting software to manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring data accuracy and efficiency in operations
Process vendor invoices and customer payments, ensuring proper coding and timely entry
Reconcile monthly corporate credit card statements, ensuring all charges are properly documented and allocated
Reconcile vendor statements, identify discrepancies, and follow up with vendors to resolve issues
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and relevant accounting standards
Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementation of best practices
Maintain strong relationships with clients to address any billing questions or disputes and ensure a positive customer experience. This role will be answering the phone and handling additional customer service concerns in a fast-paced office
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
Previous experience in accounts payable and receivable, preferably within the construction industry
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve client disputes professionally
Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel for financial analysis, reporting, and data management
Skilled in using Microsoft Word for drafting and formatting financial documents and internal communications
Experience with construction-related accounting software and systems
Familiarity with CDK or similar dealer management systems used in heavy equipment or automotive industries
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools used in accounting
Prior work experience in a dealership, construction, or equipment sales and service environment is a plus
