Description
This position is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the campus bookstore. This position will participate in long-range planning, development, problem solving, and staff development for the campus bookstore. Responds to inquiries from college departments, the community, and/or external agencies.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties
Prepares and implements operating plans for bookstore operations. Drives plans to execution, analyzes store financials, interprets trends, and makes recommendations to the Vice President, Administrative Services regarding how to positively impact future sales/expense opportunities.
Serves as liaison between the college and internal/external auxiliary vendors to ensure contract compliance.
Identifies key talent and is responsible for recruiting, training, coaching and development of full-time, part-time, and contractual employees.
Communicate with sales representatives to obtain information on new items for resale, negotiate pricing, and order items.
Ensures all back-office functions, including the preparation of invoices, process of chargebacks and coordination of stock shipments are completed in accordance with standard practices and procedures.
Reviews enrollment numbers, history, inventory levels and current adoptions in order to ensure appropriate quantities for purchase and to buy back. Interacts with faculty and others as needed to gain access to adopted titles for upcoming semester far in advance to maximize profit.
Acknowledges and clarifies inquiries, requests, or complaints to ensure needs are identified, documented and addressed.
Coordinate and perform fiscal year-end inventory.
Prepares annual budgets and monthly financial and performance reports.
Oversee preparation of daily deposit and proper cash handling and control.
Manages the visual presentations to create an exciting sales environment for customers.
Works under periodic supervision and makes decisions within broad parameters established for the position; involves understanding and interpretation of NCCCS and/or College guidelines/policies.
Position approves expenditures less than $2,500

Education and Experience:
Associates Degree in Business Administration or at least 3 years of retail management experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy

Understanding auditing and reporting guidelines
Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office
Ability to multi-task and work independently
