Position Duties/Responsibilities
The Assistant Professor of Radiologic Sciences is responsible for functions related to preparing and teaching both didactic and clinical Radiologic Sciences courses, engaging in scholarly activity and being of service to the department, university and community. Preference will be given to applicants with lab and/or lecture teaching experience at the University. The Assistant Professor of Radiologic Sciences will work closely with the Radiologic Sciences Program Director, Radiologic Sciences faculty, Radiologic Sciences students, and the Department of Health Professions faculty.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparing the assigned course syllabi and submit to the Program Director and Department Head for approval.
Teach courses as assigned by the Program Director and/or Department Head.
Conduct tutorial sessions when necessary.
Create and facilitate web-based courses when assigned.
Evaluate student clinical performance when requested by the Program Director or clinical liaison in accordance with the program’s established clinical evaluation policy.
Recommends to the Program Director the selection course textbooks.
Serves on university and departmental committees as assigned.
Assists the Program Director with organizing, managing, reviewing and evaluating the program
Submit grades for assigned courses in accordance with the guidelines established by the Registrar's office within the set time frame.
Serves on the Radiologic Sciences Advisory and Admissions Committee.
Oversees that students are following the published supervision guidelines
Participates in student recruitment, program expansion, and RADS campus organizations.
Serves as an academic advisor for radiologic sciences students.
Gives prospective students tour of the on-campus facilities and/or the radiologic sciences area with a brief explanation about the profession.
Attend program faculty meetings.
Participates in ongoing program assessment, as directed.
Assist the program director and the clinical liaisons as requested
Visit with the clinical sites as assigned by the Program Director and/or the Clinical Coordinator of RADS to provide direction and assistance to the Clinical Liaison; complete and submit the form for documenting clinical assignment
Hold membership in national, state, and local professional organizations.
Represent the program at professional organization meetings
Establishes a rapport with the clinical staff at the clinical settings to discuss the performance of students assigned
Participates in the selection of supplies and laboratory equipment
Perform other relevant tasks as related to the position of Assistant Professor of Radiologic Sciences
Required/Preferred Qualifications
Required:
Master’s Degree in Radiologic Sciences
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification in Radiography
Current state of LA Radiography license and in good standing with the Louisiana State Radiologic TechnologyBoard of Examiners
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Radiographer
Preferred:
University level lab and/or lecture teaching experience at McNeese State University
Proficient in the use of the Moodle or Canvas Learning Management System
Additional certification in Radiology Administration (CRA)
