Data Migration Architect

We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Architect with deep expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and enterprise-level data migration. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience and will be responsible for defining and implementing robust data migration strategies, frameworks, and scripts across the enterprise. You will collaborate closely with data leads, business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure accurate and efficient data movement, transformation, and integration across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Senior Data Lead / Architect to define and implement the Data Migration Framework.

Own the end-to-end data architecture, including data acquisition, operational data stores (ODS), data warehouses, data provisioning, and ETL pipelines.

Analyse and gather business data requirements; translate these into robust data models and architecture.

Map data sources (e.g., Innovative, cForce) to destination systems (e.g., iQuest), ensuring complete and accurate migration of data.

Develop detailed data mapping documents, including attribute-level mappings, transformation rules, and data lineage.

Design, develop, and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) scripts for data migration and integration using Talend Data Integration Platform or similar tools.

Implement data cleansing logic (e.g., deduplication, normalization) and transformation logic to meet business needs.

Architect and develop error handling, logging, and exception management strategies within ETL scripts.

Create a rollback and rinse-repeat mechanism to support iterative testing and reprocessing.

Provide technical guidance on data modeling standards, metadata management, and best practices for data architecture.

Use CA Erwin or similar modeling tools to develop and maintain Enterprise Data Models.

Review and validate data marts, logical/physical models, and dimensional models to support analytics and reporting.

Support QA/UAT teams with test data preparation, validation strategies, and defect resolution.

Work closely with Change Management and project teams to ensure smooth transitions and stakeholder communication.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

10+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and enterprise data management.

Proven expertise in Data Migration strategy and execution – a must-have skill.

Deep understanding of relational and dimensional database design, data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration.

Hands-on experience with Talend or other leading ETL tools.

Proficiency in CA Erwin or similar data modeling tools.

Strong grasp of data governance, ontology, taxonomy design, and metadata management.

Ability to design and implement data management standards, assess current states, and define future-state data architecture.

Excellent knowledge of normalization, dimensional modeling, and when to apply each technique.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle large-scale, complex data environments.

Exceptional communication and documentation skills to work with both business and technical stakeholders.
