Position Overview
The Material Logistics Specialist plays a vital role in the success of solar construction projects by ensuring the timely delivery, accurate handling, and efficient organization of all project materials. This position is responsible for tracking materials from the point of order through delivery at the job site, coordinating with vendors, logistics providers, and on-site teams. The Material Logistics Specialist ensures all materials are properly checked in, organized, and stored to support seamless project execution. Success in this position request excellent organization sills and good communication with vendors and site superintendents.
Key Responsibilities
Material Tracking & Coordination
Monitor and track all project materials from order placement through delivery confirmation.
Maintain comprehensive logs of delivery schedules, tracking numbers, and primary contacts for each shipment.
Coordinate with procurement teams, vendors, and freight carriers to resolve delivery delays or discrepancies.
On-Site Material Management
Verify that delivered materials match purchase orders and packing lists upon arrival.
Ensure materials are accurately checked in and logged.
Oversee or assist with the setup of on-site storage, including the placement of shelving within containers or designated areas.
Storage Setup & Organization
Travel to job sites to install shelving, label storage areas, and organize materials.
Clearly label storage sections for easy access by field crews.
Implement and maintain inventory systems using manual logs or digital tools, as appropriate.
Team Collaboration & Guidance
Partner with Construction Managers and Site Supervisors to ensure proper material storage protocols are followed.
Provide remote guidance and checklists when on-site support is not feasible.
Train and support site personnel to maintain organized material storage throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience in solar construction, logistics, warehousing, or a related field.
Familiarity with construction materials, inventory management, and job site safety practices.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Willingness and ability to travel to construction sites 20% of the time.
Proficiency in tracking software and digital tools (e.g., Excel, project management platforms).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with solar energy projects or electrical material logistics.
Forklift or material handling certification.
Understanding of construction documentation (e.g., packing slips, purchase orders).
