Senior UX Designer - Design Systems & AI Exploration

Pay: $82.00–$83.00/hour, 40 hours/week, excluding holidays

Contract: June 1, 2025 – June 1, 2026, with potential for extension or client conversion

Location: Fully remote, Central/Eastern time zones preferred

We seek a Senior UX Designer with 5+ years of experience to support our client in evolving scalable design systems and pioneering AI-powered tools.

Summary: In this role within the DesignOps team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to maintain and evolve design systems, ensure consistency and scalability across products, and explore and implement innovative tools and technologies that enhance design processes. This role is ideal for someone passionate about designing scalable systems, shaping modern design operations, and introducing emerging technologies that drive efficiency and innovation across the product lifecycle.

Design Systems Design:

· Identify gaps, refine existing components and interaction patterns, and introduce new solutions that align with usability, accessibility, and brand standards.

· Maintain and evolve, design tokens, Figma libraries, and guidelines, ensuring clarity and usability for teams across the organization.

· Work closely with engineering teams to refine component architecture, design tokens, and front-end implementation strategies.

AI Experimentation & Integration:

· Operationalize AI-powered tools and methodologies across design teams, through education, guidelines, and pilot programs.

· Collaborate with design teams to identify opportunities where AI can enhance design workflows, such as automating repetitive tasks or generating design variations.

· Manage pilot programs and synthesize learnings to inform scalable, repeatable best practices across design teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in UX Design, human-computer interaction, or related field of study or equivalent, relevant work experience

· 5+ years of progressive experience in digital design, visual design and design systems.

· Highly skilled in Figma (a must), with experience managing design libraries, tokens, and documentation.

· A portfolio showcasing design systems work, including contributions to component libraries, interaction patterns, and scalable UI frameworks.

· Experience defining patterns, style guides, performing user testing, and prototyping.

· Solid understanding of software development and how to collaborate with developers

· Self-starter with exceptional time management and organizational skills, with laser-sharp attention to detail and accuracy.

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience implementing or integrating AI tooling in design workflows.

· Experience with design system governance and contribution models.

· Service Design and Service Mapping experience

· Deep understanding of modern UX Design tooling landscape (e.g., Figma, AI-generated research synthesis, AI-driven content automation, ChatGPT, CoPilot)

· Strong ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence, using structured thinking, frameworks, and facilitation tools to bring clarity and align stakeholders
