Job Description and Duties

Finance Controller:

The Controller role will be a leadership position that requires the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The Controller will work directly with executive leadership, plant manufacturing, office personnel and procurement management in daily decision making and the development of performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction as well as financial and production goals.

Oversee Financial Operations: Manage all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and development of internal control policies and procedures. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results for the assigned unit against the plan and prepare financial performance reports. Prepare financial outlooks and business performance forecasts for the unit's management.

Financial Strategy Development: Work closely with executive decision-makers to minimize risk and identify growth opportunities. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and research technical accounting issues for compliance.

Budget and Forecast Management: Work as a business partner with areas of the business to prepare financial plans and estimates of future business plans and strategy. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.

Internal Controls and Compliance: Maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations, lender covenants and corporate governance practices.

Stakeholder Relationships: Manage relationships with financial institutions, vendors, and stakeholders. Advise company managers on operations activities based on knowledge of the underlying business. Guides and influences others within your own area of expertise.

Leadership and Team Development: Lead and develop a team of professionals.

Cash Flow and Debt Management: Manage cash flow and debt financing and debt service payments with external agencies.

External Audits: Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits and implement their recommendations.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Manage and comply with local, state, and government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Requirements:

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

5+ years of relevant experience at a supervisory/management level.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or related field with a preference for a master’s degree in related field.

CPA, CA, or CMA preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Expertise in financial reporting, accounting, sales tax, and internal controls.

Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

Demonstrated business acumen and ability to balance people/ organizational decisions with business considerations.

Must be a strategic thinker, self-motivated and have excellent problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated excellence in change management skills and project leadership.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with people throughout the organization, ability to gain buy-in from multiple people for the good of the organization.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially expertise in Microsoft Excel.

Working knowledge of accounting information and ERP systems.

Skilled in using various analytical tools and techniques and experience using metrics to drive decisions.
