Patrion, LLC is seeking a candidate that will work as a member of an enterprise team providing Windows Server support across 9 sites. As a member of the top-tier systems administration staff, the Systems Administrator is expected to have a broad background in the administration Microsoft 2016/2019/2022 server operating systems including Microsoft File Server Cluster, as well as advanced file server permissions delegation and rights management and a basic knowledge of Active Directory and DFS. Experience with Group Policy troubleshooting, PowerShell, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and System Center Orchestrator (SCOrch), VMware ESX, Storage Area Network (SAN), Fibre Channel, Pure Storage, DataCore storage and iSCSI /SAS are a plus. Other applicable experience includes Windows Data Deduplication, File Server Resource Manager (FSRM), ServiceNow and NetBackup.
As part of an enterprise SA team the position will be responsible for providing administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalating problems for the Microsoft server, VMware ESX, and SAN systems deployed in the enterprise. The SA will support, document, test, implement, and diagnose engineering solutions. This will require a broad knowledge of enterprise computing and general networking competencies. The candidate will also work closely with other local and remote systems engineering and support staff, utilize our call management system, and escalate problems as required. The ability to work a problem through to its solution through technical or unforeseen roadblocks, is essential.
In addition to SA responsibilities, the candidate will also be responsible for assisting the Regional Site Manager (RSM) in the coordination of Definitive Hardware Library (DHL), site Definitive Media Library (DML), local purchase requests (e.g., replacement parts), and site book updates. Additional duties and tasks may be assigned, as required.
Essential Knowledge:
Applicants must have a high degree of technical knowledge related to hardware and software.
Windows Server Operating Systems (Windows Enterprise Server 2016/2019/2022) maintenance and troubleshooting
Group Policy Objects (GPOs) troubleshooting
Maintaining Server Operating Systems to current patch levels and security standards
Support of segmented scientific network and related systems (Windows XP and Windows 7) and applications
Windows 10/11 Operating System knowledge required
Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.) to create and modify documentation
Effective problem solving
Ability to develop strong business relationships
Strong oral and written communication skills, including, but not limited to, procedures and technical documentationApplicants should have a basic knowledge of SAN design/operation and VMware ESX in a Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environment. Knowledge and experience with a virtualized environment are desired. Proficiency in troubleshooting enterprise problems is also required. Applicants must be skilled at communicating, in English, both verbally and in writing.
Desired Education/Experience:
A minimum of four years of Windows SA experience in this field is required if no degree; two years of experience with Associates Degree, or one year with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
Microsoft Certifications MCSE, MCSA, MCTS, MCITP on Microsoft Windows Server 2016 /2019/2022 certification is strongly preferred.
Experience with SCCM, SCOM, vSphere, VMware, Pure Storage, and DataCore is preferred.
Software: MS Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, VMware, and NetBackup required. SQL, MS Office, MS Visio, McAfee, VPN, Outlook desired. Additional software support / experience may be required over time.
Hardware: Candidate must be able to replace motherboards, memory, hard drives and other hardware components in servers and workstations.
Protocols: TCP/IP suite; OSI model; DHCP; Ethernet; WAN/LAN; WLAN and WINS; DNS; VLAN.Essential Skills:
Must have strong team skills and a customer-support background handling complex hardware and software systems.
Must have excellent computer and customer service skills
Strong verbal communication skills; efficient organizational skills; and the ability to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Must be a self-starter, able to work and learn independently
