Job Description
The Marine Engine Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing, inboard and outboard marine engines, as well as systems electrical, fuel, and cooling systems. The role involves working on a variety of vessels, including recreational boats, and commercial vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
-Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in marine engines and systems.
-Perform scheduled maintenance on outboard, inboard, and sterndrive engines (Gas and Diesel)
-Repair or replace faulty parts including fuel injectors, starters, alternators, cooling systems, ETC.
-Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
-Test engines and systems after service to ensure proper operation.
-Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
-Provide technical support and guidance to boat owners and other technicians.
-Maintain cleanliness of vessels and tools.
Qualifications
-High school diploma or GED required; Technical certification in marine engines preferred
-2+ years of experience as a marine technician or mechanic
-knowledge of marine engine systems (yamaha,suzuki, honda, volvo penta, mercruiser, crusader,Cummins, Caterpillar, perkins ETC)
- Familiarity with marine diagnostic tools and testing equipment
-Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
-ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
-Valid drivers license
-Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in confined spaces.
Working Conditions
-Exposure to noise, fumes, and moving mechanical parts.
-Required bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
-May work indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions.
