Job Description
Huntington University has an opening for a Major Gifts Officer. The Major Gift Officer (MGO) is primarily responsible for the discovery, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors. The MGO will work with the vice president, and other advancement staff to formulate and implement strategic approaches for the development of major gift donors.

Must have a strong personal Christian commitment and faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others
Must be committed to the mission of Huntington University as a comprehensive Christian College dedicated to educating men and women to impact our world for Christ
Demonstrated understanding of Christian higher education, preferred
Positive interpersonal skills and a team player
Excellent communications skills
Commitment to continuous process improvement
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Master's degree preferred.
Flexibility to travel as needed.
Good organization and time management skills. The ability to employ self-initiative and to work independently while engaging in multiple tasks. Commitment to continuous process improvement.
Computer proficiency, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and advancement systems.
Strong human relations, public speaking, excellent writing, and motivational skills.
Proven ability to meet and exceed goals.
Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people within and outside the Office of Advancement.
Proven ability to exercise good, professional judgment.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 12-month exempt position.
