Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in the signage manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and a strong understanding of materials and processes such as thermoforming, vacuum forming, router milling, and welding. You will be responsible for designing large-scale signage structures—up to 20ft—composed of aluminum, sheet metal, and plastic or fiber front faces.

This role requires a strong blend of design precision, manufacturing knowledge, and practical problem-solving to deliver high-quality, visually impactful signage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design custom signage structures using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and structural integrity

Develop manufacturing-ready drawings, including detailed 3D models and 2D part/assembly drawings

Engineer signage components using materials such as aluminum, sheet metal, plastics, and fiber composites

Apply knowledge of thermoforming and vacuum forming in the design and development of curved or melded surfaces

Incorporate router milling and welding techniques into design considerations for production feasibility

Design large-scale structures (up to 20ft), accounting for wind loads, mounting methods, and site conditions

Collaborate with fabrication, project management, and installation teams to ensure designs meet requirements and timelines

Participate in prototyping, testing, and revisions as needed throughout the project lifecycle

Ensure compliance with safety standards, structural codes, and client specifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field

3+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in the signage, exhibit, or display industry

Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modelling and drafting

Strong understanding of thermoforming, vacuum forming, and other forming processes

Experience working with router milling machines and metal welding techniques

Familiarity with aluminum framing systems and structural integration of various materials

Ability to design for both function and visual impact, balancing cost, manufacturability, and durability

Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, fabrication, and client teams

Preferred Experience:

Experience designing outdoor signage or architectural elements

Knowledge of UL standards, wind load calculations, and structural analysis for signage

Experience with CNC manufacturing processes and sheet metal design best practices

Familiarity with lighting integration (e.g., LED) in signage structuresCompany Description
